How to use PDF Merge & Split

  1. Choose an organize, edit, compress or conversion task in the PDF workspace.
  2. Add supported files and set task-specific page ranges, order, crop, numbering or conversion options.
  3. For private-worker tasks, review sanitization and temporary-upload disclosure before explicitly submitting. Local conversion tasks stay in this tab.
  4. Inspect actual results and limitations, download the output, then clear temporary jobs when finished.

A practical example

Merge two PDFs in selected order, or extract pages 1–3,5 from one document.

How it works

pikepdf bounded subprocess operations with allowlisted options, safe page copying/rotation/crop, hexadecimal text overlays, validated grouped ZIP members and expiring bearer downloads. Browser conversions use local bounded libraries.

Limits and assumptions

Worker: five files for merge; one for other operations; 10 MiB each/25 MiB total/200 pages; 30 MiB output; split ZIP at most 50 PDFs. Encrypted or signed inputs refused. Active content, annotations, forms, attachments and metadata are removed. Crop is not secure redaction. Watermarks use printable ASCII. Browser conversion has separate visible limits; text conversions do not preserve Office layout or OCR scans. Full Office rendering, OCR, PDF/A certification, unlock, digital signing and AI are unavailable.

Frequently asked questions

What does PDF Merge & Split help with?

PDF conversion and PDF page editing are different workflows. Mayexa's shared PDF workspace includes browser-local conversions and separately labeled private-worker operations. On the current live deployment, server PDF processing is disabled, so merge, split and other upload-based editing actions are unavailable.

What should I check before relying on the result?

When worker processing is enabled in the future, its upload consent and retention rules apply separately; availability should be checked in the workspace. Signed and encrypted documents are refused. Cropping a PDF changes its visible box and is not secure redaction. Never assume hidden text has been removed merely because it disappears from the page view.

Do I need a Mayexa account?

No Mayexa account is required. Review the workspace's processing labels and limits before entering data.

Which operations upload my PDF?

Merge, extract, split, remove, reorder, rotate, crop, watermark, numbering and structural compression use an explicitly submitted private worker job. Browser conversion tasks stay local. The task states its processing mode before you run it.

How long are uploaded files retained?

Inputs are removed after processing or failure. Output and job records expire after one hour, with periodic cleanup. Clear deletes a completed job immediately; running jobs must finish first.

What changes are made to uploaded PDFs?

Worker outputs remove active content, annotations, forms, embedded attachments and metadata. Signed and encrypted PDFs are refused. Keep your original. Cropping only changes the visible box and does not securely redact hidden content.

Can this replace every Office or OCR converter?

No. Local text-oriented conversions cannot promise original Office layouts, tables, fonts or scanned-text recognition. Full Office rendering, OCR, certified PDF/A, unlock, digital signatures and AI are not provided.
