How to use JSON Formatter & Validator

  1. Choose the language and workspace: format, compare, convert or generate.
  2. Paste text, use the Open file icon, import a public HTTPS URL or load the example. Hover or focus an icon to see its action.
  3. Use the wand to format, the shield to validate or the compact-lines icon to minify JSON. Ctrl/Cmd + Enter runs the main action for the current workspace.
  4. Inspect the code, tree or differences. Alignment, wrapping and font size change only the display. Indent/outdent and undo/redo edit the input.
  5. Expand input, output or both editors for a focused view. Press Escape to restore the workspace.
  6. Copy or download the result. AI is a preview until connected; no editor content is sent to an AI provider.

A practical example

Format {"name":"Mayexa","tools":[1,2]} with two-space indentation.

How it works

Strict JSON token parsing and JSON.stringify; local browser workers; lazy CodeMirror and format parsers. Source is never executed.

Limits and assumptions

5 MiB UTF-8 input; 20 MiB output; 20-second worker timeout. Strict JSON depth 200; duplicate keys and unsafe integers are rejected; fractions use JavaScript precision. Tree: 250,000 characters, 40 display levels. Diff: first 1,000 changes. URL import: HTTPS public hostnames, CORS required, no credentials or redirects, 15 seconds. AI is not connected.

Frequently asked questions

What does JSON Formatter & Validator help with?

A JSON formatter makes structured data easier to read; a validator checks whether the text follows JSON syntax. Use both before copying an API response into a configuration file. Mayexa also offers a structural comparison so you can inspect values that changed rather than treating whitespace as a meaningful difference.

What should I check before relying on the result?

Formatting is not schema validation. Review inferred TypeScript and JSON Schema outputs against your application's real contract. URL import is an explicit direct browser request and needs the source's CORS permission; file import is the alternative when that permission is absent. Input is bounded to 5 MiB, and AI assistance is not connected.

Do I need a Mayexa account?

No Mayexa account is required. Review the workspace's processing labels and limits before entering data.

Which formats can I use?

JSON, JSON5, JSONC, YAML, XML, HTML, CSS, SCSS, LESS, JavaScript, TypeScript, GraphQL, Markdown, MDX and Vue. The Compare workspace currently supports strict JSON; conversions and generated outputs have their own visible limits.

How do the icon controls work?

Hover or keyboard-focus an icon to read its label. The wand formats, the shield validates, the globe imports a URL, and the expand icons focus an editor. Copy and download actions are beside the output. Ctrl/Cmd + F searches the focused editor.

Can I import data from a URL?

Yes. Use the globe icon and a public HTTPS hostname that permits cross-origin browser access (CORS). Imports are limited to 5 MiB and 15 seconds. Redirects, literal IP addresses, local hostnames and authenticated URLs are not supported. If the source blocks access, download its file and use Open file. The request goes directly to the source website, which receives your network address; no Mayexa server proxy is used.

Does text alignment change my JSON?

Left, center and right alignment affect the editor display only. Wrapping and font size also leave the document unchanged. Formatting and indent/outdent do change whitespace; the original input remains available through editor undo.

What are the processing limits?

5 MiB UTF-8 input; 20 MiB output; 20-second worker timeout. Strict JSON depth 200; duplicate keys and unsafe integers are rejected; fractions use JavaScript precision. Tree: 250,000 characters, 40 display levels. Diff: first 1,000 changes. URL import: HTTPS public hostnames, CORS required, no credentials or redirects, 15 seconds. AI is not connected.

Is my input stored or executed?

Formatting and ordinary operations run locally in browser workers. There are no automatic drafts or content analytics. Code is displayed as text and never executed. URL import sends a request only to the source you select.

Is AI assistance available now?

The top panel previews error explanations, repair suggestions and data transformations. AI is not connected yet, and no editor content is sent to OpenAI. Once connected, users will choose the content and consent before sending it.

Does validation guarantee correct code?

Strict JSON validation checks syntax and documented number/depth rules. Other formatters check parser acceptance, not program behavior, schema compliance or business correctness. Generated JSON Schema and TypeScript types are sample-based suggestions that require review.
