Quick answer: A JSON formatter makes structured data easier to read; a validator checks whether the text follows JSON syntax. Use both before copying an API response into a configuration file. Mayexa also offers a structural comparison so you can inspect values that changed rather than treating whitespace as a meaningful difference.

Open JSON Formatter & Validator to inspect its current options and availability.

Understand the method before choosing an action

Strict JSON uses double-quoted keys and strings, and does not accept comments or trailing commas. Choose JSON5 or JSONC explicitly when those are the formats you actually need. Formatting JavaScript or HTML is a separate parser operation and never executes the input.

A practical example to work through

Try {"name":"Mayexa","tools":[1,2]} with two-space indentation, then compare it with a version containing tools [1,3]. The meaningful change is the second array value. Represent long identifiers such as 9007199254740993 as strings: the strict validator rejects unsafe integers rather than quietly changing them.

Use the Mayexa workspace

  1. Choose the language and workspace: format, compare, convert or generate.
  2. Paste text, use the Open file icon, import a public HTTPS URL or load the example. Hover or focus an icon to see its action.
  3. Use the wand to format, the shield to validate or the compact-lines icon to minify JSON. Ctrl/Cmd + Enter runs the main action for the current workspace.
  4. Inspect the code, tree or differences. Alignment, wrapping and font size change only the display. Indent/outdent and undo/redo edit the input.
  5. Expand input, output or both editors for a focused view. Press Escape to restore the workspace.
  6. Copy or download the result. AI is a preview until connected; no editor content is sent to an AI provider.

Limits, privacy and interpretation

Formatting is not schema validation. Review inferred TypeScript and JSON Schema outputs against your application's real contract. URL import is an explicit direct browser request and needs the source's CORS permission; file import is the alternative when that permission is absent. Input is bounded to 5 MiB, and AI assistance is not connected.

No Mayexa account is required. Review the workspace's processing labels and limits before entering data.
