Quick answer: A GST calculator adds tax to a taxable amount or extracts tax from a tax-inclusive total. Mayexa supports both directions and mixed-rate worksheets. You choose the rate and supply assumptions; the arithmetic does not determine the legally applicable classification, exemption or place of supply.

Understand the method before choosing an action

For a tax-exclusive base B and rate t percent, GST is B × t/100 and the total is B × (1+t/100). For a tax-inclusive total T, the base is T/(1+t/100) and tax is T minus that base. Applying the percentage directly to an inclusive total would overstate the extracted tax.

A practical example to work through

Using an illustrative 18% rate, a 1,000 base gives 180 tax and a 1,180 total. Starting from the 1,180 inclusive total should recover the same base and tax. This demonstrates the formula only: it does not assert that 18% applies to your goods or services. Check each line separately when a worksheet contains different rates.

Use the Mayexa workspace

  1. Select Add GST for exclusive amounts or Remove GST for inclusive amounts.
  2. Enter each amount and your independently verified GST rate. Select intra-state or inter-state treatment; add up to 20 lines if needed.
  3. Inspect base, GST and total amounts. Each line rounds half-up to paise; odd split paise is allocated to CGST.
  4. Copy or export the estimate. Verify applicability and statutory rounding before using any figures; exports are not tax invoices.

Limits, privacy and interpretation

Review rounding and any CGST/SGST or IGST treatment against the actual transaction. A calculation report is not a tax invoice, filing service or professional tax determination. Verify current rates and invoice requirements from official sources. Amounts are handled locally, and the worksheet does not transmit your sales or purchase details for calculation.

No Mayexa account is required. Review the workspace's processing labels and limits before entering data.
